A little behind posting what’s going on in the garden this week!
Last weekend was so sunny and warm. I got lots of seeds in the ground, including:
I have poppies in bloom all over the garden. I planted the bulbs in the fall, so this is my first year with them. I’m not entirely sure if this is an early bloom time, but I imagine it is.
The yard has been absolutely covered with honeybees. I quit keeping bees last year after a bad allergic reaction, so I’m happy to see that bees are still coming around despite not having a hive in the yard. They love the peach blossoms.
I keep finding patches of oregano all over the garden. It seems like it has died back more in years past, but has thrived in this year’s moderate winter temps.
The overwintered kale is very happy.
My kids have been watching a praying mantis cocoon that they collected. I am reminded of how beneficial they are for the garden and wonder if we could collect them from other places and bring them to the garden. I’m sure that’s probably unethical, but tempting!
We have hatchlings! They are very, very tiny and will be released into the garden as soon as my kids have a few more hours to be fascinated by them.
The asparagus is also up but no chance to snap a photo yet. What’s going on in your garden this week?
